Here at craene studio + archive, we are a small team of creatives who have a shared love of fashion and textiles as well as a motivation to challenge the environmental impact of the apparel industry. After trying to find better ways to design sustainably, we finally realized that the best way to reduce the impact of producing new clothes is to move away from producing them altogether.
The fact of the matter is that there are already plenty of quality secondhand garments out there sitting in dressers, attics, thrift shops, and warehouses across the globe. Why not work to make something new and exciting out of what is already within arms’ reach?
That is why we are here today.
As a team, we are driven to collect and curate secondhand apparel, with a love of both common favorites and rare finds alike. Upon these “new-to-me” pieces, we apply specialty dye processes by hand to create one-of-a-kind treasures.
We’re the first to admit that our business model will never be completely sustainable. There is always more to be done, and we are always working to improve our practices to reduce our impact.
